The Lower Makefield Youth Running (LMYR) club is dedicated to developing young athletes through a character-based approach that goes beyond physical training. Our program emphasizes qualities like perseverance, teamwork, and self-discipline, aiming to build not just strong runners, but well-rounded individuals. By focusing on the holistic development of each athlete, LMYR creates an environment where young runners can grow both on and off the track, learning skills that will benefit them throughout life.
Originally launched in 2019 at Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School, the program was run for five years through the school's PTO, addressing the lack of running opportunities for both boys and girls in the Bucks County area. With its growing success, LMYR was officially established in the fall of 2024 to serve boys and girls ages 5-12 across Lower Bucks, expanding beyond a single school.
The young athletes are trained to compete in road races ranging from 1 mile to 5Ks, creating unique opportunities for families to race together and embrace running as a lifelong sport. With over 500 athletes impacted, LMYR not only develops strong runners but fosters family bonding and community involvement.
About Coach Bogan
I began my athletic journey running track in middle school in Florida and continued into high school. However, my path took a creative turn, leading me to art school after college. Even with a deep-rooted love for competition, I sought ways to stay active and took up triathlons during the summers. Triathlons soon turned into bike racing, and for five years, I raced all across the country. My hard work paid off when I won a national title and earned a contract with a domestic pro team. But after the long days on the road, I decided to settle down and finish school. I graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia with a bachelor's degree in graphic design.
Despite pursuing a career in art, I never lost my love for competition. After watching my sister-in-law run the Philadelphia Marathon, I set a goal to run it the following year, and that experience reignited my passion for endurance sports. Since then, I've completed two full Ironman races, eight marathons, over a dozen half-marathons, countless 5Ks, and even a 25K trail race while pregnant. Running became more than just a hobby—it became a true passion. That passion eventually led me to coaching when I started working with young runners at my son’s school in 2019. It was through coaching that I discovered what I was truly meant to do—helping kids find the confidence to achieve what they thought was impossible.
I’m also a proud mom of three kids, all of whom run, and I met my husband through running. We still enjoy running together when time allows. Recently, I’ve found a new hobby in playing tennis, where my running background gives me a competitive edge on the court. Balancing my family, career, and love for sports has been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to continue sharing that passion through coaching.
